Lately, it has been a critical time for Artificial Intelligence, especially in generative Art. Some people are fed up and don't want to hear about it anymore, while others like myself find true solace in it. As a musician and singer, I would have never had the possibility to explore that part of my creativity without it, while I love to draw and always like to come up with ideas, my vivid imagination sometimes may be cut short for lack of time to commit to an idea. Using generative art has helped me visualize ideas, and make them come to life using different processes. For this music video, I film myself shooting a couple of hoops and then transforming the image.
I tried to have various types of characters, of course, there are still some limitations to the technology, but just to ponder on what we can accomplish already, it's mind-boggling. I am still playing around with it, maybe in a few years, everything we are doing right now might really quickly become obsolete, I can compare it to the explosion of effects in the 80s for music videos. Creating different characters was a lot of fun, trying to figure out their backgrounds, their motivations, and what they are doing in the scene, was just way more work than I had anticipated. I am quite surprised with the result, it was an interesting experiment, pushing the boundaries of what we can do with this new medium. Compared to other types of AI animation that I use, transforming an existing video into an animation was by far the one that could give you the most creative control, but you are then limited to your own physical limitations. For now, the lip-syncing (meaning animating the lips) technology is not quite there yet, but I am pretty sure it will evolve in the next few years.
The next music video will be an 8 bit Pixel Art video, really interesting!
